I’ve been watching the TSA grow out challenge and I noticed comments from Andrew Sandler about aquariums no longer using aminos?

This is the first I’m seeing of this? Anyone have any insight as to why??

I am sure that people still use them, just maybe not as much as they did.

They were the hot thing of the day. There has been many hot supplements before them, some now and there will be many to come. In the past there was DTs phyto, oyster eggs, Essential Elements, aminos, AcroPower, etc. Today's hot thing is ICP and supplements with somebody else's take appropriate levels (mostly unproven) like Triton or Moonshiners. Tomorrow might be kryptonite, vibranium, gold, spice from the planet Dune that Zendaya shipped to Earth or who knows what else.

The only isight that I have is that nearly nothing from a bottle has ever been necessary. Maybe some 2/3 part and that is about it.

Every drop of aminos fuels two months of cyano or dinos depending on where you are in the nutrient cycle. Aminos exist in proteins, it's where they come from. Let your tank process proteins appropriately and quit trying to skip good husbandry and nature with magic products.

Not you specifically, the general "you".

I used brightwell aminos for a long time. Recently I stopped and the tank has not changed a bit. I’m not going to say they are good or bad, but they don’t seem necessary to me now.

I have never dosed aminos long term.
I do know that most dose to much which leads to cyano.
I am going to try Acropower in my 80/30 growout. Color and growth are good.
It runs a carx and I dose dsr trace daily
My goal is to see if it enhances color. More growth is not needed.
System is 120g's total. I will start at 25ml once a week.
Any thoughts?
