Hey all,
Could you pls help me here. A friend broke off a cap frag and gave it to me. Now it has a white edge where it was broken. Does it mean it grows on the stone or is something wrong? Ty

Usually white means growth when around the edges. But that white part is large. Monti caps will shade themselves as they grow and the tissue will die. It’s nothing to worry about and it will grow back over the dead part if you keep it healthy.

Also, IME, montis heal quite quickly and can grow quite fast. So it may be an eyesore for now but as long as you keep parameters stable, I wouldn’t worry.
