Stuff I did this weekend:
-installed skimmer air pump
-mounted second half of light rails
-200 gallon water change
-rerouted wires for the light rack
-moved RO barrel to final spot
-built pellet saturation station
-mounted UV ballast
-changed MH bulbs
-cleaned glass
-took down old 50gal barrel top off
-cleaned out the mixing bin
-serviced little skimmer pumps

Love the size of your fish room. I have a pretty tiny basement so just a bit jealous! Regardless, I will take my small unfinished basement any day over crouching into my tank stand!

Regarding the excess shims, do you just snap off the excess wood around the stand? I’m figuring out my next upgrade and leveling practices.

Yes, sometimes I score them with a razor then snap them off clean at the edge

Still waiting, over a year now, it’s all plummed in and ready to go just need the CaRx controller, wash down pump and controller for the skimmer. Bill said he would send it last week, nothing yet. I’ll call again tomorrow!!

How far off the water do you have your MHs? Ive bought 400w bulbs this time around (selectable 250 or 400 ballasts) and im upgrading the the XHOs this week. Im really hoping the XHOs give me the blue pop im looking for. Whats your opinion been so far with this setup.

They are 10” off the water... I have 3 openings where the light is unobstructed with the center one being smaller than the other two.

I like the set up and it’s done great for me in the past but this is my first 4’ deep tank and I could use another two 400’s (which I have but I’m not sure I want to run them...the braces shade too much as it is) coral color is great on the top half of the tank with SPS... looks to be right on schedule (still underskimming and waiting on parts for my CaRx) XHO’s show amazing color after the MH go out... I am happy with the line up so far and plan to add a few more XHO’s over the openings
