I got this anemone a few weeks ago and it was looking fine until now. Theres a porcelain crab always on it, but it never seemed to be the problem. I shooed it away to see if it would stretch but nothing.

Any one has seen this got an idea whata happening?

Hopefully it's trying to split?

Often when anemones hide like that, its due to too much light and/or water flow. Assure also phosphates are not elevated

I was thinking the same as Vetteguy. Side note, you might want to consider doing something about the Aiptasia before it becomes a problem.

Yes I got a nudi in there. Agree on it becoming a problem. I also have a banded shrimp, I hope it won't try to eat it. Added nudi it for about a month ago and it's gotten rid of aiptasia on the main rocks so far.

So it's looking nice today. Right after I posted the light turned off. Maybe it was just tired of the light? It's on the lowest timer of 8h.

In my experience the good news with anemones is that they can move to the light that they prefer? If you think light is an issue - I could consider borrowing/renting a PAR meter from an LFS if possible to see where it's at. The Crab IMHO is a non-issue. Additionally anemones also will contract after feeding - I'm not sure if that playing a role with yours. I would leave it the way it is - and try to see if you can tease out any factors that are making it look better/worse. Generally speaking - feeding anemones - as compared to just using photosynthesis - its amazing what they can eat I fed a dead 5inch (body) discus to my carpet anemone - the next day - a skeleton - and no bump in ammonia, etc etc
