I noticed this brown coral looking thing on one of my live rock the day after the dust settled when I first set up the tank. A couple of months have passed and it has not shrunk or grown.

Can anyone help identify what it may be?

Does it move?
Pics fuzzy but looks like cyphastrea or similar coral

It’s been in the same spot since I noticed it. So it’s probably a coral. Pretty resilient if that’s the case, no?
Yes and i too thought coral but has the appearance of a nudibranch at first glance

I don’t think it’s either of those corals. After looking them up the polyps don’t seem to match.

Maybe the Montastraea cavernosa
Again, the polyps look a bit different. He’s a zoomed albeit blurry pic. You may be able to get a better sense for the polyps in this one.

Where’d the rock come from? Did it come from another tank? I went with monti because the polyps look like they are coming out of a skeletal structure.

Just out of a bin at the fish store I went to. I’m assuming they’re FL live rock since I’m in FL.

If they are from Florida, then it is probably not a cyphastrea. It is probably some atlantic stony coral. Looks to me like a porites, but I could be wrong,

Update: looks like the polyps are a bit more extended. And they seem to be enjoying the better lighting and increased flow. I’m leaning towards it being an SPS coral if someone type.
