plaz-I've had a manadarin (well on my third one, but haven't gone without one for more than a week or two at a time-3 years on this one) in my tank since I started 10 years ago and have been keeping BTA's for aty least 5 years now. Never had an issue (at all, even coral related and I have a ton of SPS). May be an option for you. I'm not sure if I'd try one with the H. crispa, but my apprehension comes from just not knowing how things would go...

Yea there are reef safe but I would say the can and do eat fish, although my mandarin was fine with it. The fish was in the same tank for over 2 years and new not to swim to close, I would say you would be fine just put the anemone in the tank during the photoperiod, this way it isn't something new at night the fish knew wasn't there and now is......

Hey TyreeUM, do you get them quite often? MY clowns are supposed to be symbiants of magnifica. According to my books it is the only anemone that they take to. (Maldives clownfish) If you get them quite often I might want to trade or buy one or 2 from you sometime in the future if that is cool with you?

it clones like once every 6 months or so depending on how much i feed it. usually after a big water change. I sell them to my local fish store mostly but would be glad to save you one. I think if you tried you might be able to get your clowns into another indo anemone-some clowns are picky and some arent.

Personally I would rather get the specific anemone that they use in the ocean....But that is just me.....I tried my old RBTA and they wanted nothing to do with it, so I traded it away.....I did have a magnifica but some how tore it's foot during a movement and procedded to diminsh after that. The female was very, very rough with it which I think cause it to move and into the rock toget away from her. She was how to say very excited to have one and could seem to controll herself.....Maybe in the spring or something I will hit you up for one. That sound cool?

Ahhh. So the same cloning techniques for a BTA. Well, I may just have to try my hand at it once I get through with the move.

the trick is to have one established long before you attempt any major changes in the water chemistry-they are stressed super easy after shipping and most of them die from either the collection or from shipping stress

Mines been in captivity for several years, so it might be prime for the cloning:). I experimented with BTA's and they want to clone any chance they get. I'd feed maybe one or two pieces of krill every third or fourth day of the week and get them used to that. Then I'd increase to 3-4 piece every other day and always had a clone (or four) within 12 days. I went from 2 to 8 in three days when my RO membrane had a hole eaten in it and flushed everythign into my make up water. I lost a good bit of what I had, but had little green BTA's moving around the tank like tumbleweeds. At least they are pretty easy to remove when they are walking around;).

Hi there!!

I know this thread was started over 6 years ago! I would like to know what a baby Magnifica Anenome looks like as I am not sure if I have one or not. I found what I thought was a small Magnifica in the LFS (about 2.5" across) that has the verrucae on the base, she was the only one of her kind amongst all the BTA's on display. But since reading further their are a number of anenome's with the verrucae. Other than the Magnifica all the others seem to be sand loving. When I saw this anenome in the LFS it was attached to the glass and since bringing her home I placed her on a flat rock about midway where she has stayed ever since. Does anybody have a photo of a small Magnifica that I can compare?
