Hey everybody, My wife and I just got an glass anemone shrimp (periclimenes brevicarpalis) 3 weeks ago. A few days after introducing her she started sitting on a clam we've had for 4 or 5 years. The clam had just been introduced to the tank two weeks prior from a 75 gallon that had been sitting at my parents for 2 years with minimal care.
The clam kept trying to move and broke away from his foot and eventually got to the sand bed where we left him to acclimate.
Two or three days after the anemone shrimp started sitting on the clam the clam died. I figured it was due to the stress of moving and not from the shrimp.
We then got a bubble tip anemone for the shrimp as she obviously wanted something to host. She immediately went to the bubble tip who has been hiding in a rock crevice closed ever since with the shrimp sitting on top.
Should I be concerned that she will kill the anemone by irritating it so much it never opens up? If so should I separate them for a while, return the shrimp? Or will this work itself out?
Tldr:
We got a small rose bubble tip anemone for a glass anemone shrimp. The shrimp sits on top of the closed up anemone who is hiding in a rock crevice on the backside of the tank for over a week now. Should I be concerned the anemone will die if it's not left alone?
