Hi got this anemone last Sunday. It won't attach it's foot to anything. Tried placing near a rock and the sand bed and it seems to be using its body to just rest on 2 rocks. Water parameters are all okay. Anemone looks good and healthy to me. Is this a problem or am I over thinking it?
Thanks
Not sure weather a seabae or malu

This anemone is a Heteractis Crispa, but it is pretty bleached out so it not very healthy. Please post your parameters and the age of your tank, and we’ll see if there is anything you can improve for it.

The tentacles are yellow/white. This is a sign that the internal zooxanthellae are missing. Without these, the anemone will have trouble photosynthesizing until they recover.

About your levels, they aren’t bad, but ammonia at zero and nitrates closer to 20 will be very helpful for this anemone’s recovery. And bumping the salinity back up closer to 1.025 is advisable but not required.

Agree with Bradley, H. crispa and looks deficient in zooxanthellae. Ideally it will take on a tan color and attach. This species attaches primarily pieces of coral, unlike malu, it does not need to bury it's "foot" in the substrate.

I have tried these many times. All ended up with failure. It’s a new tank and that could be a factor. Finally found success with a bubble tip, peppermint, black widow, and rock flower anemone

I agree, but there are types of this species of anemone that are naturally white, so it could just be normal.
An all white anemone would have no way to photosynthesize, and this is a photosynthetic species. The white ones either change color (recover) or die. I have kept 5-6 of them over the years and none that survived over a month stayed white. They will typically turn tan, or occasionally green.

Ahh okay thanks. This is how it was when I got it from my local fish shop so just assumed it was well.

To be fair my amoniona is <0.05 on the card so is zero salinity is back up to 1.025 now and will work on getting nitrates up I was told nitrates should be around 5?

Regarding feeding is there anything I can give to help currently feed my bubble tips mysis shrimp and Brynshrimp.

Thank you for the help/advice

In my experience, my LFS gets creatures from a vendor. The vendor will try to sell everything they have. I assume sebae anemone and flame scallops are thrown in a freebies, or close to it. Nobody’s fault, but learn from experience. Stick to what others are successful at. Don’t buy a sea hare either
