Started running BRS bio pellets on 4/20, but did not turn off my GFO at the time. NO3 has consistently stayed at 19-23 ppm for the past 8 months (Hanna ULR) on 400 gallon total volume with heavy bio load. PO4 consistently tests .02-.04 ppm (Hanna ULR). Pellets are in constant tumble in fluidized reactor, with output near skimmer intake (Octopus Regal 300 int). I turned off my GFO about 2 weeks ago, and my question is, will that start over the "~8 week wait time"? I added full amount recommended by BRS, as I see most posts here recommend starting with half the amount, FYI. I also have tested my RO and "nitrate free saltwater" for dilution, both come back at 0.0 on the hanna checker, so I believe the ~20 ppm number is accurate.

I'd stop the GFO but watch phosphate.

Organic carbon dosing methods can lower nitrate more than phosphate, but in your case, you are better off with rising phosphate than lowering phosphate.

So just monitor it for now.

Thanks, Randy. So far no change in PO4, but I guess I'll just wait and watch both.
