My lights ramp up from 10 until 11:30. They stay at their max peak until 6:30, and then ramp down until 8:00. I had originally had the ramp up and down be 2hrs with the same total 10 hr photo period. This was on an old tank that had terrible algae problems. I’ve since upgraded to a new tank and PAR matched, but kept the same photo period (with the small ramp adjustment). Everything seems fine. No algae at all that I attribute to proper live rock this time, as well as a bristletooth tang & a ton of trochus snails. Anyway, 10 hrs total seems short to me. Might I get better coral growth/health long term if I move closer to 12 hr photo period? Or, is this a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” scenario?

Thanks.

What Lights are we talking about ? I do 12 hours of T5 and Leds

2 AI Hydra 32s over a 4x2x2 tank. Seems like I could slowly increase the photo period if you are running 12hrs. That seems somewhat common. Do you have a ramp period?

Yeah I ramp up 2 hours of AI Blades then at 2 hours more 2 T5 Blue Plus come on and then 4 hours of full spectrum 6 T5 bulbs with AI Blades on full blast then back down. Im 600-500 PAR on top of my corals
