So I have a 130d red sea max and I would like to retro in some LED's. I looked at Mojo's thread and love the color so I would like something similar but don't have the $250 to put out.
I have seen these on ebay, I am only keeping mostly softies and zoas along with a couple rose bubble tip anemones so other than the anemones nothing needs really bright light.

225 Blue + WHITE LED Aquarium & Plant Grow Light Panel - eBay (item 220687866932 end time Dec-24-10 07:33:44 PST)

Any idea if these would grow what I have?

I'm about 99% sure these aren't sufficient for any reef tanks unfortunately. Don't ask me why, but I've seen other threads discussing this light before.

Be careful of cheap LEDs. They will not have enough PAR and may not last due to poor heat dissipation.

Many of the better inexpensive fixtures are for a fish only setup. You should look for something that puts out over 250 PAR (less for softies and zoas) at the distance you corals would be.

Here is what I bought. I'm getting good growth on my sps already and only been running them for about a month. One thing I will probably be changing are the fans. They are a bit noisy.

By cheap, you might get what you pay for, so be careful what you buy.

I'd personally do all the research possible then take the plundge.
