Any reefers in Vermont?

still here. Thanks for checking in. Have updated to a custom 45 gal AIO peninsula tank a couple months ago. Starting add more corals and fish. Have a 35 gal AIO peninsula tank that i am no longer using. Let me know if someone can make use of it. Thanks.
I have just joined this forum. I'm in South Burlington and have been in the hobby for 8 years now. I recently moved and my wife didn't like the look of the old tank, so I had to buy a new one (bummer eh!). I now have a Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 500. I have a bunch of rose bubble tip anemones, so if anyone wants one, happy to donate to a new home or swap for some zoas.

Hi @daviesp007! Congrats on the new tank! Share some pics. Sent you a PM about the RBTAs.

Ohhhh! My 75 gallon is so old I worry a seal will leak one of these days. I keep thinking of replacing it and the Red Sea 500 would be perfect! Do you have pics you can share? Also, what method do you use to get your RBTAs off the rock? I’m constantly overrun with them and trying to remove them.

I know someone that uses an "anemone cannon" - basically a pvc pipe placed through a hole in a sponge that is rubberbanded over the rock the anemone is on. The anemone crawls through the pipe towards the light and off of the rock. Here's a video with the idea:

Never tried it myself (I had BTAs for a bit a couple years ago, but they died when I had a tank crash while out of town unfortunately - I was able to save most of the corals but not the BTAs). So if you do get any BTAs off of your rocks, I would be interested in taking them if you don't want them anymore!

If someone needs a hangon back Protein skimmer. I just replaced a fairly new Aquamax 1.5 with a Reef Octo. Actually have (2) Aquamaxs. One was a replacement, so new. Also have a Tunze 9004. Thanks much.

Also there’s someone in Milton that posted a used 169 gallon CADE with aluminum stand and sump on Craigslist on Friday. For $100???? They had back surgery and are selling their gear. Said the tank has only had water in it for a couple years. They posted stock pictures, but said they would send me a photo of the tank. Assuming it’s legit and not a scam, could be a really good deal if you have space.

I already have a tank in my living room that’s not setup, and don’t know what I’d do just now with a tank twice the size, otherwise I’d jump on it. The aluminum stand is very appealing. Also my partner prefers white stands to match our living room, and I doubt it’s white, but I’m waiting on pictures.

Thanks so much! I’ve tried this with ~50% success rate but my darned nems keep on splitting. Next time I pull some off I’ll let you know!

Wow, I checked this out and it seems to be an incredible deal. I’ve been wanting to upgrade but this seems like too big of a leap from a 75 g. If anyone here grabs it let us know how the setup goes!

Does anyone want this mushroom coral? It is a bit bigger now (pic taken in July). I pulled it off the rock and it is hanging out in my sump/fuge. Doing a bit of re-aquascaping and I don’t have room for it anymore. Free!

Alright y'all, I'm back in. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: The frustration of my last reefing experience has passed, and I've maintained several successful freshwater setups for the last couple years. I have a 45g JBJ on the way and I'm pretty excited to try again.

I still have these, if anyone needs one. $100 for the Aquamax.

That’s great! I still have your big hermit if you want him back.

Hey everyone — I’m Bill from Ocean Bloom Aquatics.I’m based in Burlington, with my frag tanks set up in Bristol. We’re still pretty new and getting everything fully set up — working on our website and growing our social media — but we’ve already got a solid collection of healthy frags and are adding more every week.
I get weekly coral shipments, so if there’s something you’re looking for, I can usually bring it in or set one aside for you.
We offer curbside pickup in Bristol (by appointment) and I can also drop things off around Burlington on my way home.
If you’d like to keep up with what we’re working on or connect with other local reefers, join our Facebook group:

Hi guys. I’m up in the East Burke area and after over a decade I’m getting back into things.

I have a bunch of equipment and tons of what was once live rock. Only doing a little 15g AIO for now until we get our house finished.

Looking for a good place to find some seed live rock and sand without ordering a bunch. Would happily buy from someone local!

I haven't seen your name in while, since the Vermont Marine Aquarist days. I see you are still waay up north.

Have you been down to Green Mountain Coral in Waterbury? I know he had a small bin of live rock and he seems to run clean systems. I would call ahead to make sure he is there.
