I'm looking for ideas. I'm building a stand for a peninsula style 75 gal 48x24x15T with external overflow. My current system has an external overflow and I dont like the fact that there is a gap between the wall for it that exposes wires and plumbing. I'm looking to see how people went about hiding that gap and if you utilized the extra wood for some other function. Incorporated fans, Alex display ect.

I'm trying to come up with a way that let's me access everything but hides the overflow itself. So meets the wall and up over, flush with the backside of the tank. Removable for cleaning overflow

Let's see what y'all did for your external overlfow

Thanks,

Matt

Although not for a peninsula tank, I built a side held by magnet that can be removed. As well, my canopy can be removed for access from the top. Check it out here (direct post) in my build thread.

Looks good! That's similar to what I have in mind. I'm going back and forth between hinges and magnets

Here is the start of mine. I'm going to keep it rimless so I want to frame in the back portion of the tank/overflow. Maybe with a removable top for access.

Looking nice. I used hinges for the doors I would frequently open so that it is supported while it is open. For access panels I would seldom open, I used magnets. And I used magnets to keep the hinged doors closed requiring some force so kids don't open them. I used these magnets from Amazon Canada ... I am sure equivalent are there on Amazon US. Depending on the weight you can get stronger or weaker ones. The ones I got are good and require some small force to open which is perfect.

Good trouble: Have mushrooms ever become pests in your aquarium?
