Wow, this is amazing. What area of central Florida is your shop. I need to stop by and get some pointers. My wife wanted me to get a new hobby (and not buy another tank). I have always wanted learn some woodworking skills so I am setting up a small shop in my garage. Unbeknownst to her, I will soon be able to make my own tank stand. :)

Not really woodworking, but it is made from wood...lol. A fun little Sunday project. Finally got around to replacing the fence destroyed by Irma a year and a half ago. Procrastination is my strong suite.

Been turning about everyday and each item gets better and better. Made these today. 20190221_164321.jpg 20190221_164720.jpg

Those are beautiful. I really need to practice more on my turning. That's one thing I'm really not very good at.

Let's discuss the darker side of wood working and I'll start with a question. Table saw vs. a thumb - who wins? Judging by the stitches I acquired this afternoon, I'm going to go with the table saw.

Classic case of "Stupid is as Stupid Does."

Honestly I got lucky...deep but not bone deep. Blood thinners didn't help the situation either ...lol.

I'll be fine, just embarrassed. Just posting as a PSA to be careful in your shops. :)

Ouch!!! You're lucky....not too bad.

I have a table saw, but am a Radial Arm person. I think I've used my table saw maybe five times....

And your finger is the reason...too dangerous for me (and I was raised on radial arm...that's what my dad had.)

Now that said, I can't watch anyone (my son-in-law) use my radial arm....it freaks me out with that spinning blade so close to fingers and arms.

Paul...the radial arm is a tool I don't own. This was a classic case of stupidity and I know better. Fun fact...my push stick was laying on top of the fence!!!

dang, you’re very fortunate that it’s still attached.

Much like reef keeping, I’m getting back in to woodworking after a long hiatus. My tank stank was one of my first major forays back in to the hobby (i actually designed it to match a TV stand I built her). Now the wife has tons of woodworking projects lined up for me.
