Let's discuss the darker side of wood working and I'll start with a question. Table saw vs. a thumb - who wins? Judging by the stitches I acquired this afternoon, I'm going to go with the table saw.

Classic case of "Stupid is as Stupid Does."

Man, I hate to see this one. We constantly discuss how dangerous a table saw is. At least you have it, and I will you a speedy recovery. I have seen these saw in action link

dang, you’re very fortunate that it’s still attached.

Much like reef keeping, I’m getting back in to woodworking after a long hiatus. My tank stank was one of my first major forays back in to the hobby (i actually designed it to match a TV stand I built her). Now the wife has tons of woodworking projects lined up for me.

I like the barn door concept on the credenza.

I am an amateur wood worker that is getting the fever more and more each time I build. I am in the process of building a stand and mudroom cabinets for my wife. The first thing I built for her was a hood for a 125 gal. I built it completely with hand tools with exception of a drill. Miter box, hand saw etc. I have come a long way since then. I have acquired many more tools that make it so much easier, haha.

This is the progress so far. I have made doors for the stand but we had a cold front come through so I am just filling holes and moving trim. I forgot the 1/4" overhang on the sides for the skin on the sides of the benches, oops. Easy fix thankfully.

Nice work @DannyD. That's the beauty of more and new projects. New projects equals new tools. :)

Well, I figured I'd share the project I was working on when I lost the battle with the table saw. Had someone contact me asking to have a cabinet made for a mini-fridge for their office. They wanted something "rustic" but a little chic. This is what I came up with. Frig in the right section, storage on the left with pull out tray. Just need to sand and put a finish on it.

Here's a couple of radiator covers that I recently built that match the design of my aquarium stand and the customers existing woodwork; and I have to build this customer an aquarium stand to match the oak version.

A couple of weeks ago, I got around to delivering the aquarium stand for this room. The canopy will follow once the tank is delivered.

I have yet to "lose the battle", but when I have been engaged with a saw blade, I say that I got bit. I've been bitten three times in twenty years; thankfully, they've all been just flesh wounds on the tips of a thumb and little finger.

Here's to a quick recovery.

Really Jeffrey...now you're just showing off my friend. I will go on record and say that's the most beautiful test kit caddy in the hobby. My problem would be it would never be seen...lol.

Great work pal.

Thank you David.

My better half hit the room and says, "the handle is not centered" My response was "work for me";):D:D

Fellow woodworkers, I need suggestions.

When we moved into our house almost 40 years ago, there were old boards and wood up in the rafters of the garage. So after all this time I final pull this old stuff down and what do I find. A single piece of pine that is 21 inches wide by 47 1/4 long.

Big Pine Board.jpg

This is not multiple boards glued up, but one board. And I know the picture makes it look like a glue up, but that is the dust and dirt from other boards on top of this piece. You just don't find wide boards like this today.....cultivated pine forests. You're lucky to find 12 inch wide boards. So here's the question, what can I make with this that will show off the fact that it's one piece?

I'm so excited about this board, I told my wife I'm putting a picture hanging hook on the back and simply going to hang the board.
