Thanks kschweer, I love wood turning I just got this lathe for $40 from a guy. It's 9' long and it's got a 9" swing and weighs about 400 pounds. I got a peice of locust burl that I want to leave natural on the out side mounted to I in the first pic but most of my turning is done on my midi lathe image.jpeg image.jpeg

I made this this weekend out of a small scrap piece of red oak. I put a Sankyo 18 note movement in it. A friend of mine's daughter asked me for a music box and this will be going to her. I flocked the interior. Originally the movement was visible under a piece of acrylic but I managed to get sawdust on the movement and sealed it completely when I made this so I just flocked over the acrylic.

Hey I am about to start construction of another music/jewelry box using a 50 note Sankyo Orpheus movement. This one will be primarily Birdseye maple. I am looking for ideas for a design that can incorporate the movement and a usable jewelry box. I was thinking drawers as well. Keep in mind the movement is @ 6" wide and I will have a glass top over it as it is a work of art by itself.

Also going to build a smaller, 30 note jewelry/music box for my daughter out of Cherry. Ideas?

Post pics if you can!

Let’s get this old thread going again. Here’s the original shelf hung.

And something new I just finished up. Being out of work (dropped a 40lb vise on my foot) I have been bored and did this with some help to pass some time. This is the wall in my bedroom. I’m really happy with how it all turned out.

Kevin @kschweer...great idea breathing some air in to this old thread. I had forgotten about it!
I honestly had too. When I finished up today I wanted to share it with someone (wife was at work) and I remembered this thread.
