I found the R2R app yesterday, an I seen the thread about starting a build thread to get a header, so I decided to go take some pictures on lunch seeing that I'm at the farm today. I need to come out here when I'm off and pick out some lumber, probably going with Black Walnut

Wow some gorgeous work on this thread! I was fortunate enough to work in a school with a couple of wood lathes and I made some pens, cups, bowls and plates. Don't have any pictures of the plates but I'll post them eventually.

Maple bed frame with storage

making the drawers, and drawers fronts tomorrow. Then breaking the bed down and sanding, breaking the edges with a chamfer and finishing the beginning of next week.

Very cool! That's why we went through the wood today trying to find some nice pieces of spalted maple the rough boards we were moving were 18'-20' long.

Lol I made custom cabinets in Tampa for years learned a lot right putbof high school

Very cool! That's why we went through the wood today trying to find some nice pieces of spalted maple the rough boards we were moving were 18'-20' long.

This is what my wife is begging for me to do next. I'm not a cabinet maker so this scares me a lot.

This one is a very simple bed were one could do it with a table saw, router and pocket hole jig. So far the only glue used was for the posted.

I bring in all my stock ruff and mill it out. I like when I can pick through the boards after cleaning it up.

I think I could build it (and cabinet carcasses, frankly) with the tools I have but I don't have the tools/ability to size and mill them, leading me to play the "What's the least bad out of this stack" game which I hate so much.

A good planer and jointer is a must for doing really any project. My first planer was a grizzly 12". That little guy was great as long as one does not take to much off. I wished I would have kept the grizzly 12", it was quite also. I also had a grizzly 6 inch x 36 bed that was also good. I bet you could find some used at great deals. I work with someone that her and her husband where at one point making projects to sell they got out of the business and had a bunch of tools they where practically giving them away.;) I picked up some router bits but that was about it.

Idk if you seen the pics i posted last week but we have slabbed trees at the farm Alaskan mill and a stihl 660! Hmm won't let me upload pics they are a few pages back.

A while now probably ten years I'd say I've been with them almost 5 years now. Prettt sweet Betty is letting me make a stand! Looking for a 90 gallon predrilled like oceanic or an Allglass (Aqueon) to move the 55g into going to be a partition between the living room and the foyer/kitchen like the 55 is set up but furniture not like this 20 year old allglass pine stand (that was the ******* 20 years ago lol) I'm probably going to make the stand base a few inches wider than the standard 18" so I can hide the black rims matching hood I'm going to hinge it with toy box latches to keep it open for maintenance/feeding I think i may buy some acrylic for the sump fuge...

Or as we called them inbmy day "algae srubber" lol built in levelers in the center an each corner. That's what I have innmy head so far

Betty though we had more walnut but we didnt find much, so I'm going with cherry. I was hoping to use walnut thay was my pops favorite wood... An I love the smell. Either way it's going tonbe hard on blades lol no pun intended

@iced98lx I see your project is done but I wanted to mention they make a reverse twist drill bits for removing broken or stripped studs/fasteners, I used them once, start with a pilot then make your way up and the bit will catch and walk the stud out, it was slick!
