Anyone enjoy woodworking?

I finally finished my 8' fireplace. The mantle is 8 pieces of 2X10' which I hollowed out to look like one big piece of lumber.

The 14 gauge steel is on plywood, I ground those swirls in it and the entire thing is on wheels so it can be moved away from the wall in case I need to hide from my wife. :cool:

I have been wood turning for about a year and finally got my wife to try it. We did a slim line pen and had a lot of fun and decided everyone should get a pen this Christmas. We went to LWS and got several pen blanks and kits and she did her second pen later that day.

He concentrates on custom stairs, handrails, and cabinets for a living, but does furniture and other pieces on the side. Here's a Roubo bench he did a few years ago. They have become so popular with other woodworkers that he's always working on one on the side to sell.

Looks like you need to spend some quality time with your brother and maybe some of his talents will rub off on you! But you really don't have to be good at it as long as you're getting dusty!

I started making some things out of pallets...hardest thing is breaking them down while salvaging the wood. Never really worked with wood before, but have really enjoyed it!

Very nice work. I've made quite a few things out of pallet wood. You certainly can't beat the price!!!

It's like newly site finished wood floors... you'll get over it after the first few scratches and call them character marks.:)
