Anyone ever try to mount a light with something like this?

got a hydra 26 otw and looking into DIY mounting options. I was thinking about clamping something like this to my stand and screwing my light into it. What do you think?

As long as it'll hold up the light and stay put, and you can get it attached securely. why not!

Personally, I don't think I wou;d like the look, but that's me. If it works for you, go for it!
 
That’s a disaster waiting to happen. I have a boom arm made by elgato and I would not trust it as it still slips depending on weight of mic
 
I don’t like spring loaded things above fish tanks to be honest, after some hair raising experiences with clip on lights.
