Great question — you’re actually touching on one of the strengths of this case.
Yes, the case itself can be laid flat. As long as there’s adequate clearance for airflow (spacing it off the cabinet like you mentioned works well), there’s no issue running it in that orientation.
Regarding the display/control panel: Because this location is a square, yes it can be rotated 90°.
If you have a specific layout in mind — top of cabinet, side mounting, cable exit direction, etc. — we can usually accommodate that during production. Otherwise, it’s built to the default spec.
