Looking for ideas in mounting MH + LED bars. Debating simply suspending them all from the ceiling joists or building an 8020 light rack, although I have no experience using 8020 or aluminum extrusion and would need help building a parts list.

Have two 20x20" halide pendants and two Orphek LED bars.

I have not, only mounted our Kessil 500x lights to the 8020. I think the mounting should be the same, but I guess that will depend on the setups. What kind of setup do you have?

Two Orphek LED bars which will go on the front and back. Two 20x20" cozumel sun halide pendants that will be in between the LED bars. Each halide pendant has 4 hanging cords/bolts, one on each corner at the top of the fixtures.

Mine is in my build. I still need to clean it up a little bit but it’s been great

60x30x22

Going to put them 5 inches in on each side, 10 inches between the two. That covers the 5' distance. Right now I have one suspended pretty high, maybe 24" above the water on a holding tank, and I have some acros growing on the bottom of that tank somehow. PAR I'm sure can't be great, but for whatever reason, they just work.

Sounds like a solid plan for hanging them. I shot hamilton an email to see if they are still in stock. I think it’s the only reflector that’ll give me a shot at lighting 36” front to back.

I wish i could find those around here.

I'd like to find some type of hinge that I could mount to the wall for 80/20 or taller profiles. Maybe with some type of locking pin so I could put them up when working in the tank.

Sorry to rez an old post but I used these hinges in mine to flip it up when I do maintenance. My setup is like infinite's above but mounted to the back of the stand.

Unfortunately, these hinges go past level and don't have enough clamping force to hold the arms at 90% when fully loaded (T5 hybrid+2 kessils). I'm using a bump stop in the hinge to keep it from drooping. They do hold the arms up though, in that position the center of gravity is much closer.

Overall I probably wouldn't do it again and am considering removing them. I used locking poly bearings to connect the frame to the stand so it's height adjustable. I'd probably just stick with that only to raise it up when I need to.
