Anyone on a diet?

Sometimes you have to remember to take these factoids with a grain of salt.

Consider how many people eat red beans and rice and have a very healthy lives.

Do you freak out about eating corn like this? That's a more legit freak out. Corn that is not treated with lye (nixtamilizing?) has a good portion of its nutrients still locked up in undigestible combinations. Native Americans knew this but we do not.

Just as with corn, proper preparation of beans is essential.

Canned beans have already been prepared. (I.e. Soaked and cooked.)

If you were starting with dry beans, then soaking and cooking will be in the instructions on the bag.

If you are growing your beans fresh in your garden, then you need to figure this out for yourself or read about it. :)

FYI, all seeds have some degree of protection like this to prevent fungus from eating them while they wait to sprout as well as to prevent early sprouting and other things. Some seeds have way more, some way less.

Soaking and rinsing is the number one way of dealing with these things, followed by cooking.

Soaking (aka sprouting) simulates spring rains which activates the seeds natural enzymes that break down these compounds automatically in nature.

I still eat beans every now and then, but I wasn't freaking out about them making me unhealthy, I just don't want to deal with the IBS that comes with them :D

Does it mention a duration to soak them to minimize the symptoms? I usually soak dry beans overnight, and honestly I don't notice any difference in the symptoms as when I have cooked them right out of the bag

Wow I feel really bad, I eat everything people on here are saying stay away from. I eat sugar just about daily, sprinkle gluten on my carbs, and love dairy. I also do Jui-jitsu 3 times a week, High intensity interval training 3 times a week and yoga 1 time per week. I do no long slow work outs and I am about 8% body fat with 4 kids. Sorry diet people but you can't starve yourself to fit you have to put in the work.

I think 7 hours is something I read in one place....but you can go all the way to sprouting them so there's a root showing if you need to. The process gets slightly different if that's your goal.....getting a sprouter (or sprouting lid for a Ball jar) would be a good idea.

Something else to think about if you're the only one that gets gas and everyone else who eats the meal is fine is to get on a probiotic routine. Most of us end up with a (bad) slant toward fungus/yeasts in our gut and this can cause many issues - including gas.

Pill-form probiotics are fine (I do this...get one with as many strains as possible vs a single bacteria kind), but sauerkraut, kimchi, yogurt (this), kobucha, kefir water (this) or kefir milk, sour cream (this), buttermilk (and this), etc all count. Anything fermented that's still live. Home-brewed beer is live. :) (Saurkraut and kimchi are on my list to try, but I'm a picky eater.)

The effects of probiotics on minor digestive woes like gas or diarrhea are usually almost immediate. And if you take probiotics before or with your meal, they work preventatively.

Wow I feel really bad
I eat sugar just about daily

If we all ate added sugar "just about daily" we'd be doing pretty good!

You almost certainly eat added sugar with almost every single meal if you aren't doing anything to avoid it.

Any food you buy that's pre-prepared in almost any way will have some form of sugar added - even if you aren't adding sugar yourself. Sodas and scoops of sugar are the obvious sources. Consider all your bread items and condiments and nearly everything that comes in a box.

Sugar doesn't care about exercise or what else you eat.

Sugar = triglycerides in the bloodstream plus inflammation plus insulin resistance.

Among other mostly-bad things.

Eat every 2-2.5 hours mainly high protein foods with fibre otherwise going to the toilet will be a ouch issue! Have 2 carbs meals say a bowl of oats and one plate of veggies also include protein shakes, having small sized meals so your still hungry! Eat no more then 800 cals a day and burn 1000-1200 cals by doing cardio! And you will see ur body change by the week! Good luck

are you saying burn 1000 cal exercising? OP's body burns about 1300 cal/day just doing normal bodily functions. Burning another 1000 cal in cardio would be starving the body severely. The body would change alright lol shrivel up like a raisin :p

Well I'm doing that right now! I've lost about 4lbs of weight while gaining muscle, but then again I'm a gym rat lol[emoji23] so I guess every1 is different

Very slim chance that is happening, unless you are just starting out in the gym. You may be getting a little stronger, but you cannot gain muscle when you aren't eating enough calories to gain. Losing weight and gaining muscle is also another one of those "media/tv myths". When you burn more cal/day than you take in you are catabolic, or losing. When you take in more cal/day than you burn you are anabolic, or building. This is the whole purpose of a bulk and a cut. You can't bulk and cut at the same time naturally

Like u said it can't be done "NATURALLY"! And like I said I was a gym rat! So what I am eating my body takes it right up to my muscles! So I have no muscle waste! And the 250g carbs keep giving me the energy! So I'm gaining muscle while losing fat!

And nope I'm not just starting at the gym been training for the past 10 year I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing! It's not the calories that feed the muscles and makes them grow its the 250grams of protein I'm having that's doing that! And it's nothing to do with media it's all about testing and trying every person is different!

Gotcha, I hope you have done your research and are taking care of yourself. I have some friends that aren't natural, and one of them has been cycling for 4-5yrs now. His state of mind has suffered pretty bad. Totally different person from who he used to be

Im confused, you said you were eating 800 cal/day and burning 1000 doing cardio

250g Protein= 1000cal + 250g carbs= 1000/cal

That's 2000cal and that's not even factoring in fat yet

Lol I get tested privately from bupa every 6-8 months! Every1 reacts different personality wise! My state of mind changes while on high levels of test! Anyway I think the person who started this tread doesn't really want to know about this stuff lol[emoji23]

Yes I also didn't mention what types of protein I'm having so how u got ur figures I still don't understand

250g grans of which protein have 1000 cals? I didn't even mention what cals I'm having so you got your figures from?

Protein is protein, doesn't matter if it is whey or steak

1g of protein = 4 cal
1g of carb= 4 cal
1g of fat= 9 cal

Haha no it isn't! Ur telling I'm 100g of chicken is the same has 100g of tuna

What a joke mate don't worry about me! Just stick to the post for good advice for the person who what's to lose weight
