I have three SunSpect 165w black boxes over my 125 gallon mixed reef. Changed from MH and VHO's almost a year ago. I had a crash and rebuild with a new tank two months ago. Here is my tank today. I am happy with the lights!

I just got 2 of these for my 60g reef, 48x12x24 and not sure what to set them at, first reef, and ill probably just do softies for a while. I've got them set up at approx 8" off the water and I have a glass top. Anyone want to give me an idea for where to set the blue/whites
Thanks !

I have Ocean revive T-247 for 4 yrs and they grow everything- I am sure they aren't as effective as my old MH but I save a ton of power, heat and replacement bulbs yearly

I have 2 Mars Aqua 165W fixtures 10" over my newly setup 75g. Tank is only a month old and I had a nickel size frag of Season's Greetings montipora grow to the size of a silver dollar and is about mid tank. The rest of my coral, Acan's, Zoa's, Torches, frogspawn, Duncan's are all doing great as well. I have the lighting set initially at 40 Blue 20White and have slowly increased it to 60 Blue 30 white lit about 8 hours a day. These bad boys are bright and definitely grow coral! That being said, I recently added 2- 54W ATI Blue+ bulbs using the LET retrofit kit and the coral "pop" is truly amazing , adds a way better color to the overall tank and gets rid of the shadowing associated with LED's and still gives me a bit of shimmer. These lights coupled with a couple of T-5 Blue + bulbs is a great combo IMO.

Went to local store and was SUPRISED to see 3 black boxes on a tank with just blue lights. I have always used all the colors except for the blues being a longer duration. What is your opinion on this?

A lot of shops will run only blues too showcase their corals ,, you find this especially with zoas ... just another sales ploy!!

Hey question what's an good light for around $160 or an good black Box for an 40 Breeder.

You could do 2 165w basic black boxes, like the Mars Aquas for around that. Might be a little more money though.

Anyone out there had experience with the DSunY/Pop Bloom brand.

I was attracted to them because the power supplies are not mounted in the fixture, they come with a controller and they are fanless.

I won't be growing Acros. Softies, LPS, palys and maybe some monti's.

I was wondering if anyone has taken a chance on them?

I know someone who used the smaller ones as a full spectrum sump light, had all the ramping / storm etc features - not as good coverage as lets say a Viparspectra (which I have) but was still very useable.
