anyone talent agent here?

I have a few pics of my daughter on facebook and was contacted by a local talent agent. I am just curious what I should be weary of when talking to these people? I would love for my daughter to succeed but I have to be leary since she is only 2 and a half years old. I dont want it to turn into a "chore" for her nor do I want to fork over to much of my hard earned money lol.

Yes I know this is a reef site but thats why I posted in the lounge and besides there are people from all aspects of life on here so I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask :D.

Be very leary of anyone that contacts you from FB. Check the Better Business Bureau etc. Many of those talent agencies are a method of parting people from thier money. If they want you to pay for a portfolio etc I'd walk away.

1st thing if they ask for money they are not legit they would be working for your daughter not the other way around. of course they would take a cut for anything she is in as long as she is with them but they should not want any money up front. and by all means check the BBB I would also shop around with several agents if that is really what she wants. a good agent can open doors a bad one can only get lucky from time to time. most the good ones you have to seek them out they don't have time to look on facebook.. IMO

Common sense tells me that an "agent" that is scouring Facebook for "clients" just ran a huge red flag to the top of the pole. As Labman stated, good agents don't have time to look on Facebook.

There are agents that look at facebook and myspace for unknown talent but I would be very sceptical of anyone from there.

I am am member of SAG (Screen Actors Guild)and I can tell you first hand, if they ask for even one dime.....RUN. True talent scouts and or agents succeed by making you money, not the reverse.

Thanks thats what I thought but I wasnt sure. I have not agreed to anything yet and will read every single letter of any "form" they want me to fill out. BTW they would be making her money not me :D. All money my daughter would make from this (assuming she gets to do it) would go into a college/car fund for herself. I figured 75% college fund the rest into an account where when I feel she is old enough she can have it.
