so any new feedback on the trident NP ? did the software update seem to help/work?

would you buy one again knowing what you know now and how it works for you?

I got one a couple weeks back. It bricked during an update. They are sending me a new one and it will be delivered tomorrow. Never got to even run a test lol

There are a few updates around this forum with users reporting positive changes after upgrading to the latest firmware. Neptune also implemented the use of manual test results for calibration.

I didn’t buy either trident bc of some of the issues they have. Also I’ve seen people not able to get reagents easily. With that being said I just got my mastertronic essential last Friday and so far it’s been running great.

I was looking at the essentials, and if I didn’t already have the trident, I’d consider the essential.

What testing reagents are you using? Do they sell their own? I saw some notes referring to 3rd party reagents that could be used, but I didn’t know if that’s your only choice.

I have an apex and not having it linked to it isn’t a dealbreaker at all for me. I’m using Red Sea and api for the reagents. They do have their own but I haven’t tried them. I looked at getting the bundle kit of reagents from them but they were out of stock. I compared the results with my hana checker and salifert tests and they were within range of each other.

Mine has been stable with both nitrate and phosphate since I bought it over a month ago. The manual calibration is really good.

So how does that work exactly with 3rd party reagents? Are you just buying their test kits and emptying the dropper bottles into mastertronic files that it pulls from and adds to the test automatically?

Do you have to indicate what test reagents you are using so it knows how much fluid to add to the vial?

I Seem to recall with the Red Sea calcium pro kit, you had to add drops until it turned colors then you did some kind of formula using the number of drops used etc. so im kind of confused how using Red Sea test kit in the essentials would work.

And I can’t find anyplace selling or even listing the essentials branded reagents if they were even sold out. Curious what the cost difference would be between the branded and 3rd party options.
