while sitting at the hospital with my wife yesterday, I stumbled across the nano tank thread. I had enough spare 1/4" glass leftover from previous sump builds and decided why not give it a try. The bottom was leftover from my current 125g sump and the sides were made from baffles I cut out of a 55g sump. The finished dimensions are
14"x 14"x 12". I have enough pumps, power heads, live rock, coral, and sand to fill this bad boy so only equipment I have to buy is a heater and a light. I was thinking about using a par38 bulb off eBay but not sure how good they will grow softies. Can anyone recommend a par38 bulb wattage/spectrum they have had success with?

Ok the build is complete, just have to let the silicone cure we are ready for sand and rock. The center chamber will house marinepure spheres that have been in my sump for over a year and the heater.

How much did that set you back for glass? I am really impressed!

Not sure it's been sitting in my basement for 6-7 years. I've only spent $10 on this build and that was for a nano heater.

GE I silicone is also aquarium safe. It doesn't state that but it's 100% silicone and approved by FDA for food use, after it cures of course.

Nice looking tank, now I wish I'd kept my 8 gal., lol. I used a wave point light I got off amazon for 35.00 worked fine for the soft corals and fish I started out with. Now I've moved up to kessil's, on my 30 gal. , lol:D

How long was the system running? Do you have any pictures? I'm not going to spend the $ for kessils on this tank, that would blow the budget build idea.

That GE silicone will work but let it cure for a week before you water test it.
