I need help - Its such a long story but in a nutshell...
TLDR - Will Berghia start eating and make a small impact and then to dormant?
135 gallon mixed reef tank that is 4+ years old. I got aptasia almost a year ago that was getting out of control and the normal methods of peppermint shrimp and other things didnt help.
tried AptasiaX which make it 1000x worse.
then a file fish that has not touched it once
then more peppermint shrimp that have not touched it at all
then a round of burghia that seemed to die instantly (water issues at the time)
fixed water issues and another round of 8 large berghia
This last round of berghia was added on January 15. I immediately saw them lay eggs that day which hatched on January 28 - at this point im thinking I have a chance.
Then waiting and no change whatsoever for 3 months. It's been so hard, watching so many corals die thru this nightmare as they get choked out and stung to death by all this aptasia. there are thousands of them in the tank, covering most of the rock surfaces and on the sand and even growing off the glass in some spots. everything is dying and I have been thinking its just not worth it.
Easter morning a huge swath of it was gone and I couldn't believe it. The next day another swath was gone and I honestly was getting so excited, like I used to when cool corals would start to take off.
Now, after that second day, no change again in over a week. Does that make any sense? Was it not really them? this is as good of a pic I can get. look at the two SPS on either end that are dead/dying to orient.
Why would thy reach a point of population where they start making a different but then just vanish again?
I need help, I'm at the end of my rope on this.
