I picked up an AquaC EV-240 protein skimmer without the pump. Does anyone else have this skimmer or have used it in the past? I have been able to find the manual online and would appreciate any thoughts, recommendations, or tips about this skimmer.

Just get a gph ratted pump. I believe they ran 12-1800 gph pumps

Thank you for the feedback.

Yes. The manual recommended a few pumps including the Mag 12 or Mag 18. Have you used this skimmer (or seen it used)? How does it compare the the current needle wheel skimmers?

They are great skimmers. ...might need some tuning, but once tuned, you will see why some people will never replace these with a Needlewheel.

Mag 18 is a good choice. You cannot just put a DC 1800 GPH pump in there since they cannot handle the back pressure and will slow down too much. Laguna or Fluval of a similar size are good too.

I’ve used an EV-240 with a Mag-12. As mentioned above a Mag-18 would be better. I was satisfied with how it performed after it was dialed in.
Make sure you clean out the air valve every once in awhile (will hurt foam production if it gets clogged). Just unscrew it from the base and rinse out, use a bottle brush if necessary.
