I’m building my first soft coral reef tank (75 gallon). My current plan is two islands (will add sand once finalized).

The left island feels largely done and interesting (while not too unnatural). But I currently plan to rework the right with (likely) more live rock. Would appreciate any thoughts or input.

Hi, I had a setup somewhat like yours, and I made a few changes after several months. I added 2 more little rock islands in the open sand areas for two reasons: one is for more real estate for coral, as the rockwork fills up quicker than you expect. The second reason is to allow for more hiding spots for fish. When you have the rock setup for the first time, it looks like there are a lot of caves and holes, but once several fish are in the tank, then these are taken up.

In my setup, however, I have a lot of fish, and a lot of them are hiding/cryptic fish. I also have lots of corals, and they are all on the rockwork as I don't like the look of them on the sand. If you think that you don't want lots of fish, or the fish you want aren't normally hiding, and you don't think you will fill your rock with coral too quick, or you like corals on the sandbed than disregard this.

Also it's a bit hard to tell in the photo but if the rockwork is too close to the glass (looks like on the left of tank) then it is a pain to clean, and if you want a coral growing on the edges of rock then that will also make it tighter.

Thats my only thoughts, otherwise I think the scape looks good 👍

I feel like you need something in the middle of the tank? I do agree with the above post that there should be more caves/hiding places for fish.
Other than that, it looks good!
