Anyone going to Aquashella this year? What’re you planning to buy? I’m looking for rainbow acans and a hammer coral, hoping for a clam as well. Also gotta get that free sample of Rod’s fish food!

My fiancé and I will be making the trip down tomorrow for the day. Its a little over 2.5 hr drive for us. But we are excited none the less!

She loves goni's and alve's so I'm sure we may come home with one or two. I love sticks, hammers, torches, and acans. So really anything that will catch our eyes.. and that we can afford.. lol

Will send some tonight, everything is currently acclimating. You get any corals?
Unfortunately I'm still recovering from the 2nd vaccine shot. I'm hoping to be well enough to be able to walk around without getting tired tomorrow.

The sps in the picture is a forest fire montipora digitata.

I honestly didn't pick up a whole lot. From one vendor I got three really nice goni's and a two head gold hammer for $160 and then got a free Walt Disney frag. Its small, like just a tip thats encrusted small, but it was free frag of Walt Disney none the less so that was pretty neat. Then I got an Alve from another vendor. Never seen one quite like it, Paid $80 for that. Otherwise I felt that there wasn't a whole lot of screaming deals that I had to have. Maybe it was because I set a pretty low budget and I wasn't looking at the more expensive corals. On the way home we stopped to check out Reef Geeks of Chicago as it was just a quick 20 minute drive from the event and left with more coral. Got a beautiful green with pink tips torch for $55 there. Then he cut me 5 SPS frags from his colonies for $100. All were over 1" and some really nice stuff too. That deal he said was a his choice deal, so kinda like a mystery box, but my fiancé and I were drooling over three colonies in particular and I asked if I could request one of the those three. He happily obliged and even let me choose which one. I'll definitely be going back there.

I've never been there. Looks like I will have to give it a try.
If I'm able to make it I think I'll be disappointed because I feel our local reefers & lfs give great deals already. I will go with an open mind & give it a go if I'm feeling better.

Don't get me wrong, it was definitely worth the experience and it was still tons of fun. I would totally recommend going. I just wasn't too impressed with the pricing is all. It just seems like I could walk into a LFS and get the same pricing. There was tons of stuff for cheap, but it seemed like all the really good deals were on pieces $150-$300 range. Which is fine, but with my budget that meant I would have left with one frag.. So I was looking for eye catching pieces more in the $35-$50 range which is a challenge in itself. My fiancé and I also have some picky taste so I'm sure that didn't help finding stuff either. lol

Oooo  how big is the clam? Can't wait to see then in full bloom! Thanks for sharing.
Still small, but a nice looking one. Just have to move the mushroom
