!!!!ARBORDAYMAGEDDON!!! Part II

Magnolia tree is my favorite. So pretty and smells wonderful.
Gor 2 boxes gonna be a great week next week :)

Sorry to hear that. We had to put our 15 year old pooch down a couple of weeks ago. Had little to no warning. We had an idea it was soon. But it all happened in a span of about 30 minutes.

Wishing for some peace for you and the family today.
I lost my special boy dog of 12 years and still gets me choked up. Never easy, my friend, never easy.

Here's our ginko

Probably not going to be able to actually participate since my finances are so screwed up at the moment (harassed out of job and couldn’t work due to that, started new job but don’t get paid for another two weeks), but I’ll be lurking in case a miracle happens :grinning-face-with-sweat:

Same, Frank Lloyd Wright planted a bunch of gingko trees in a suburb outside of the city I grew up in and they were pretty uncommon at the time. That was well before the longhorn beetle forced them to be more commonly planted.

When I walk my kids to school in the late fall the smell sits heavy in the air.
If it’s a foul odor that means they are female (fruit producing) trees. Ginkgos are cool bc they are ancient trees with no living relatives, they are also dioecious with separate fruit and pollen trees. Their fruit is stinky. All commercially available plants these days are male clones to avoid the stench. The trees FLW planted were likely grown from seeds producing both male and female specimens.

I’m quite a tree fan, have a minor in horticulture and love planting/planning things. The two hobbies honestly intersect except once you plant a tree after the first year it’s pretty hands off.
Currently my favorite tree is my weeping Japanese maple. I placed it at the top of my pond’s waterfall and it has the most beautiful weeping form and deep red leaves. It’s a crimson queen variety, slow growth and tight weeping form.

Also reminds me of the trees from game of thrones. Which is also a bonus in my mind.

The beautiful burgundy foliage can be seen in the background of this cuteness overload pic from Easter 😃
