so I recently purchased these from an online vendor, I specifically requested and was adamently promised kryptonites. This was even after I sent the new enclosed picture

they dont look like Kryps to me. Is it possible they will color up?

Are these Kryptonites?

they are 2 feet from a 175 w MH 14 K bulb, 6 inches from the water

I have only had these in my tank for a few days

I really don't think they're the candy cane you're looking for...as I've seen the almost nuclear-looking ones.

I will say that most candy canes SHOULD be the color of the ones in your pictures. White/Brown ones will color up just like what you've got in your picture.

This was the response from the online vendor when I asked about the type:

"Those are CC kryptonites.... If you seen them lighter green its cause they were lightened by high lighting. I have been doing this for well over 18 years and I am only speaking the truth. We dont run Halides nor do we run high T5s. Like I said to you... Place them under high lighting for a couple weeks and the results will prove themselves"

I am looking for a few independent opinions

I'm not sure if this is YOUR situation..but one thing that always drives me crazy is when a seller puts up a picture that doesn't represent the coral that you actually get...I understand that coloration may vary dependant upon the lighting that you and seller have...but when the color is WAY different and the seller says something along the lines of "the color will change BACK if you do <insert placement here>"

The coral shouldn't have to re-color itself or that should have been told to the customer before even selling the coral so that it was known to the buyer....

just sayin...I've had this pulled on me a couple times and it's really annoying.

My kryp candy cane GLOWS highlighter green in my tank. Those are NOT kryp. If you don't mind paying shipping, I will gladly cut you a several polyp frag and send them to you. My colony could use a pruning...

Here's a quick cell phone snap of my kryptonite cc and you can see purple coralline algae, a blue acro, and a superman monti for color reference in the photo:

Final Verdict... Those are not Kryps. I have a 2 head frag of Kryps and it looks lke what you got are Teal CCs, or Mint CCs.

here's a pic of my guys-and these AREN'T under high lighting-the tank has a 2 foot fixture, and the tank's 30", so 6" of the right side has no light over it, and that's where these sit. The green is very evident, and shouldn't require coloring up in any major way. There's always some degree of adjusting to get coloring to match what a vendor has, but for the ones you have to become "cherry" kyrpto's, it'll tank a whole heck of a lot of coloring. I might suggest actually moving them into lower light-you'll see much more flesh expansion that way, and might be able to see if there's any green actually in the CC's.
If you wouldn't mind, would you PM me which vendor this was TS? Would like to know just for my own sakes. And could easily trim you some of these if you wanted.

thanks guys

it is pretty frustrating as I specified what I wanted and sent pictures of what they should look like.

They swore they were very bright (before shipping) and even after I sent the post pic (above) they swore they are Kryps............In thier defense they offered to take them back if I shipped it back (not sure who would pay for shipping) but since I drove an hour each way to the airport and paid 60 for deilvery of a VERY larger order I am a bit sick of the whole thing. There are also several other issues with the order that are pending resolution

thanks guys

I do understand that the fat headed ones are pri$y......

I6months ago I purchased the Krypto version (small polp) cc for $32 for 10 polp colony (previously online) . They were the real deal. What I said to this vendor was if u have this send it and if not dont, as I HATE the regular ones.............................I was very specific and particular about what I wanted. I am pretty disapointed more in the fact that I have to put up with the aggrevation
