luckily, i don't really drive that much. work/school, grocery store, and gym are all just 2-3 miles down the road, and thats all i really do (yeah i have no life). so i don't have to fill up my car that often (~22mpg), probably once every 2-3 weeks if i don't take any trips out of town.

but it definitely makes me think about taking trips to the city an hour away, the round trip costs me about ~$30 in gas.

yeah, gas prices stink and my job requires me to drive all day. Being self employed this gas is killing me. I am going to have to trade in my SUV for a small car which will stink because it will make my workday longer. Not happy about this at all. Right now, it is costing me 76.00 to fill up my truck and I use two tanks a week. Blah!!!!

better for us consumers, but will probably cause chaos for the refinery companies since the price for a barrel of oil will keep going up regardless of a gas cap............really not sure if this is a good or a bad thing though....

I don't know, I just want to know why the oil companies are getting richer and richer and there are people who are soon going to have to or all ready having to decide between buying gas and food because the price of food and everything is going up due to the price of oil. Those guys are making billions of profit a year. Anyways, it's ridiculous. They need to do something. 25% of what I make goes to gas every month. I used to make good money, not anymore. Pretty soon, I won't be able to afford to do my job.

Just disgusted at this point and just see the gas prices going up and up and up. Very sad.

politics aside,who sets the oil prices?not the oil comapny.The market.Just like any other commodity,if the consumer will pay it,they will take it.Investors in the market are as much to blame as oil companies.

Exactly.... Kinda like PPEs these days. If someone says I'll give you $50 per polyp you not going to say...... well I can only take $35. This is just the tip of the iceberg, I believe. Just look at other countries and their cost per gallon.

My father in law owns a small trucking company. We are on the east coast and his runs are mostly to California. He said it cost him nearly $2000 one way for fuel. It got so bad that he let his trucks sit, paid the payments on them and drove somebody else's trucks just to keep from paying fuel.

unfortunately it is taking a heavy toll on the trucking industry as a whole.And trucking effects all aspects of our lives ,food,clothing etcThe cost of fuel adds to the cost of everything.
I manage a co that operates 20 trucks and we have hired several owner operators recently that can not afford to keep their trucks going.Very sad situation to see someones dream of being an owner of his own truck having to quit.My Dad was an independent,back in the day.

As long as the demand for fuel is there ,the price will be high.

We are adding an LPG injection system to our trucks,makes them somewhat more efficient and allows us to burn 20% of our fuel as propane at about @$2/gal less.

Yeah I couldn't imagine being in the trucking industry.... that has to be about as hard hit as it gets...
