I'm looking to upgrade my skimmer and wonder if there are any differences between the insump model and external model. I have around 180-200gal total volume with medium load so what would you all recommend?

External uses a feed pump and is a tad better since it runs recirc there is more contact time... I run my atb external in my sump and love it.... Only reason it's there is because I didn't have room in the stand.. Lol

thanks...so is the rating accurate? would a small external atb be good enough for 180g volume?

It would skim a 250 easy man all day long!!!! I'm running it on a 120gal cube with sump and I can't keep the tank dirty enough to keep it skimming 24hrs a day... there not small by any means man....hth

thanks Troy. What kind of feed pump you use if you don't mind me asking? Is it easy to use/setup?

also, what kind of pump you use? Eheim 1260 or sicce or anything else?
