The picture shows the temperatures from a Straton G1. It has reached peaks well above the 53°C ATI says the light is dimmed to cool it down, for several days. A technician saw the light and told me the connector fried because of those temps. The connector burned and fried the chip board too. That would be impossible if the temp circuit at least existed. I suspect there’s none on these Straton G1. Over the course of less than 3 years, three two lights I have have given me all kinds of problems. Initially both didn’t want to connect to a wifi. The situation came to a point where I received two sets of power/cables/black boxes to replace for the original ones. Saturday evening, one of the lights went off with a strong smell of burned plastic. The remaining one is still working, but since then it’s impossible to get into it via WiFi or directly. It’s turning on at 10:22 h (I programmed from 7:30 h to 18:30 h) as a decision it too by itself.
Related the case to Germany and US ATI staff.
Tobias is a person full of good will and tried all he could since Saturday. Unsuccessful like the first time 3 years ago.
US staff sent me an email offering two sets of cable/power souce / black box for US$235.00 each. Free delivery in the US (that isn’t my case); and 10% discount if I buy both sets. He said these are the last two sets he’s got.
I’m impressed that two lights that summed over US$2,000.00 (plus freight and import tariff to reach me) made in Germany from such a celebrated brand can fail like this.
Asked why the safety temp circuit didn’t work, I didn’t receive any response. Last time, when ATI sent me those two sets to replace the original ones that didn’t work, I was told those black boxes didn’t had a wifi antennae… comical comment.
there is no solution on the table from ATI other than selling me those new parts to replace.
Replace again…
The lights hang 50 cm above the water level and the aquarium room is well ventilated and the temp never goes above 22°C…
