Hi
I've been using atm agent green for 5 day but it doesn't seem to be having any affect on gha, only thing its done is dramatically drop calcium, just started dosing with reef flowers calcium blend.
Any ideas really fed u with this gha all over lr and sand bed.
Would it be a idea to just take all rock out an scrub it and replace sand bed.
Thanks in advance sue.

http://reef2reef.com/threads/reef2reef-pest-algae-challenge-thread-hydrogen-peroxide.187042/page-14

The last page there has what Id do in every bryopsis and GHA tank, no matter how small the invasion. the smaller the invasion, the more important it is to act IMO because we just listed what 14 pages of waiting does.

:)

welcome~
people rarely agree six posts in how to deal with GHA. some offer other approaches where you leave it in the tank and try things. that above is different

any number of good preventatives exist, most know to aim for good water quality, low nitrate and po4, and feed in balance and change water. they can hook up algae scrubbers or various canister filters, but all our thread deals with above is what to do when you see algae, not how to prevent it. We think those are separate events, removal vs prevention steps and tools. The heart of our big thread there is before installing preventatives, first rid whole tank of algae all at once.

I think you'll find upon searching that the #1 web response to an algae issue is to take some sort of action on the water, not removing the target with force, first. To me that's whats actually causing algae problems in reefing, strange distinction I know lol.

We had to find something different to be able to get predictable results, and our thread shows its usually within a close date range that tanks get restored. if you don't use items designed to be preventatives as removers of algae that still got through anyway, algae control ability changes drastically, tanks literally go from green to fixed overnite and the work the keeper does to maintain that condition ranges based on strategies taken during the fix up mode. post full tank shots, we can make a detailed plan

the reason we are harsh on substrates, while others work more casually, is because we are used to only getting the endpoints to turnaround, so we apply the actual fix to your small problem and make it stop, its my best option even without knowing any details about the tank yet. pics will show us much unspoken detail
