Hi - I'm new here and this is my very first post. I'm also new to the hobby. I recently bought a 220g saltwater tank. Been researching ATO systems but most do not say how much height they can pump. My RODI water is down in the basement, about 10 ft. Any pumps available to push that far? An idea I had is why not put a venturi on the recirculation pump discharge to have it suck the water? Then you wouldn't need a separate pump. Anybody heard of such a thing?

Just buy an ATO that doesn’t come with a pump, then buy a pump for it that can handle that much head pressure.

I believe the Neptune atk will pump that high, can be used without the controller to

Most of the good ATOs can come with a relay to control an external pump. I doubt that many ATO pumps can handle that kind of height for long.

Pump your RODI into a different container for the ATO pump. Not a good idea to use your RODI reservoir since it can get contaminated - it just happens. Trash cans or cheap/ugly/free tanks work great. Keeping your ATO container up on a table can lessen the head height too.

Max head height on avast peristaltic pump is 20’ at 7.6 gallons per day in my experience with it at 7’ just under your head height it moves a couple gallons in 10 minutes.

Some ATOs have internal safety timers that will not usually allow a peri pump to work so slowly. Some will work with a peri pump. Be sure and read well.
