I already have a ato. Love the optical sensor. But after a year the pump went out on it. I could go with a smart plugin that is offered by the manufacturer. But after a year and the crappy pump goes out on it. I'm ty honking whole new ato. What's recommended for ato?

Hey! I use hydrofill but I've heard great things about tunze. Maybe someone that uses the tunze can chime in :) I like the hydrofill as well but I don't think its the best.

Pump will crap out however regardless of what ATO you get!! They are in saltwater and build up will clog them and kill them eventually

Good luck finding a Tunze 3155. It’s been discontinued and out of stock everywhere. Even Amazon. They’ve announced an Osmolator 2, but it can’t be found anywhere either.

I’m biased, but I use a hydros controller and love the simplicity of having theirs tied into my control system

Tunze, just have a backup, anything in this hobby will breakdown.

I have a DIY float switch that runs a aquaclear 201 powerhead that been on three systems and running for 20 years. Not sure why they can't make a pump that lasts and why they think optical sensors are better than the track record of reed switches, but whatever not my problem.

If you go for the Tunze just be aware the pump is noisy, only goes off a few times a day so may not be an issue for you but something many people recommending this ATO never mention.

My 20g is a new system ( 8 wks) but the Autoaqua-sato p260. Has done well. Time will tell if it lasts, but my water level hasn’t moved in 2 months.
