What do you mean? I use tropic marin, i mix and i store it for awc? 1% a day? I dont use a wave maker in there? Do i have to?

What I mean is that mixes which add organic matter should not be stored in my opinion. That includes Aquaforest reef salt, Reef Crystals and Tropic Marin Actif.

AF reef salt includes amino acids that will be consumed by bacteria as it sits, and they will also take up trace elements.

I dont know which thread but u told me me before not to run any wave makers in mixing bin so bacteria dont grow…

I expect what I said was that mixes with organics need constant stirring to prevent it becoming stagnant and possibly producing hydrogen sulfide, while mixes without organics need no ongoing mixing.

Additionally, high alk mixes such as Red Sea Coral Pro recommend no ongoing stirring to reduce heat input that can accelerate precipitation of calcium carbonate.

Okay this is weird tank is 3 years old. And i noticed that everytime i fire my automatic water change i get brown jelly on my hammer. I stop and brown jelly stops.

I lost my joker torch, lost couple heads of my hammer. And im at loss.
All my testing shows stable. I use all for reef 120ml a day.I use tropic marin salt. and i store it in brute mixing bin. I only raise alk to match my tank in the brute bin. I dont heat the water leave it room temperature, and i dont have wave maker there is that the issue? Bacteria growing?

Alk:9.3
Phos:0.39p
Nitrate:4.8
Mag:1390

Im sending an icp test. And ima buy another icp test for the mixing bin. I use tropic marin salt based on brs study for the long storage.

Hi, maybe it’s been mentioned or asked, when was the last time carbon blocks in the rodi were replaced? I had same issue longtime ago where a random torch will BJD a head after I did water changes. A commercial aquaculture owner helped and turns out the carbon blocks have to be changed out more often. I was changing the blocks once every 7 months. My ICP reports were perfect and no3 and po4 were perfect ie 4ppm and 0.03. It’s some organic in the mains supply that wasn’t filtered out by the exhausted carbon.

Not chlorine or chloramine? That makes more sense than a toxic organic in drinking water to me.

I run 2 blocks in series, change out first block every 1.5 to 2 months and the second block every 3-4months… advice given by a commercial coral aquaculture facility. My higher end sps are sensitive and so as the vibrant torches such as 24k Aussie and true holy-grail. In the past I changed the carbon blocks once every 7- 8 months or so. That was ok with hardier green torches and hammers and basic sps like green slimers
