R2R was just getting started when I got out of reefing. Was fairly active on RC and Boston Reefers. Had a serious SPS disaster while on vacation - Apex failure cooked the tank.
So my wife wouldnt let me restart - water spill, kalk, saltcreep "ruined her house"

Over the years, we have had major arguments. However my daughter and granddaughter want me to hel[ them with a small reef and Im over the moon.

First of all, I am shocked by the skyrocketing prices - people are fooled into spending $100s of dollars for a slimy piece of goop called a bounce mushroom. And on and on. And some acro frags with goofy names go for thousands.
Anyway, I'm back with daughter and granddaughter and nothing can beat that.

Welcome my OG. Totally get the frustration with the prices but the way I see it, they are an investment when they split. I picked up a sunkist bounce for 45 bucks and have sold babies at same prices and made a few hundred. Helps pay for dry goods etc.

Welcome to R2R!

While you're right that there are some pretty pricey pieces out there, most things drop in price drastically as they become more common. It's a premium for having the new shiny things. Still plenty of great looking corals for low prices, glad you get to introduce your daughter and granddaughter to the hobby (but be prepared they may like the slimy pieces of $100 goop!)
