Biggest thing is LED lighting. It was just coming around and super expensive when I got out of it. Outside of that the roller fleece mats and some small things.
Ya, leds weren’t around when I got out. How about coral prices, wow! Also all the beautiful live rock that was available. No frag plugs just a new little piece of live rock with every coral purchase. Biggest change is the amount of information available like here on R2R. I had a couple of books but they were wrote for a marine biologist to read. What I needed back then was a Reefing for Dummies book.

Hey everyone,

Back into saltwater after being away from it for about 8-10 years. I had a 125 gal back when I was in college and now that I am in a house I am going to be in for a long time, with a good career and an understanding wife I decided to get back into it.

I now have a Planet Aquariums 260 gal tank, Trigger systems sump, Apex, G4 Radions, Nyos skimmer and mp60s.

I got water in the tank back in July and have put some fish in there, but had an ich outbreak last month and now am down to just a Pintail Fairy Wrasse. Trying to decide on what to do next, try and catch the wrasse (not going so well) and QT it and let the Ich die out or just slowly add back fish and manage the Ich. Glad to be on the forums and will start posting more!

Welcome! Glad you joined. Sorry for your losses. Good luck catching fish!

Excited you are considering starting your build thread when you get back from vacation! I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
