Banded Trochus Snail invasion!

I have an infestation of banded trochus snails in my nano tank. Hundreds of them. HUNDREDS! they cover the glass, get in my skimmer impeller, clog up my power heads. Looking to hear some opinions on what would eat them. I was thinking maybe a possum or leopard wrasse. But what do y’all think? Or does anyone have ideas on how to get rid of them.

Maybe this is why I never see baby snails despite seeing my trochus spawn all the time.

I still see babies frequently but my Melanurus (and likely Leucoxanthus) keep their numbers in check.

I’ve considered melanurus but the tank is a 24g nano, probably should have mentioned that in the original post.

I figured it was too small since you mentioned nano. I was just saying that my Leopard doesn't.

LFS may also give you credit for them.

If you were closer, I would buy them all :P

Harvest them and trade for store credit, they don’t ship well and stores like them. You have some bargaining power

I love those little guys! They are going crazy in my tank as well. There are some inverts that will happily eat them such as hermits, crabs, depending on what you have some of those can munch on corals as well so be careful. I'd bet most inverts would snack on those little guys.

I second that, but I would get a small grow out tank for them, because I think most lfs wouldn't want them at this size.

Congrats. Good problem to have vs the alternatives. Trochus snails are one of the best snails to have and as others mentioned one of the more expensive / marketable. I’ve had numerous spawns and some babies early on but not a ton. I’d like more to replenish.

if they’re cheaper than LFS you’ll sell them like easy

I have the same issue with Turbo snails, now i give them away regularly to all my local reefers.

Don't kill them. Sell them. I had the same thing happen. Probably 50 or more. They go for like $5 a snail
