hi everyone! i have a pair of cardinals and woke up yesterday to find 3 little babies hanging out by my huge filter intake 🥲 i have no idea how many there were but i could only find 3. i was not expecting this or i would’ve prepared better 😂😂
i scooped them up and added them to a breeder box i have, and put some chaeto in there too. it’s attached to an airpump so it has flow.
i feed my other fish frozen mysis but i fear its to big for the babies.
they’ve been in there since yesterday and im a little worried they might not be getting enough food.
i have a lot of copepods everywhere in my tank so are they eating those? or should i try and find some freshly hatched brine shrimp from my LFS. they don’t open until tomorrow, will they be okay?? 😭 i also saw on here that i could hatch my own? if anyone has any information on that i greatly appreciate it!!
i’ve only ever raised guppy fry saltwater babies are out of my comfort zone but im already attached i need them to live lol HELP! thank you in advance!! <3

Hatching your own brine shrimp might be your best bet. Feed them to the cardinals within about 12 hours after they hatch.
i have a 5 gallon that i’ve been breeding pods in, i gave them some and they went crazy for it! do you have any idea how much i should be feeding them?

They are normally mouth brooders. I fed mine copepods freshly hatched brine shrimp and reef roids. I (my fish) successfully raised many batches without additional food too.

I had some bangaii cardinal babies living in the overflow for my 500 gallon for a while. I didn't feed them at all--they seemed to be fine just eating the crushed up flakes that were getting sucked into the overflow from feeding my fish in the display.
