Correct, the concern is with water- not physical abuse(dropped or bumping it) and a decent one should shut down if it's overheating
Totally get it. Now, if this is a concern holding you back, think like an engineer would and figure out a housing that would be weather proof, but allow ventilation and cables to come in and out, and still look decent…

In a prior role I was an engineer and designed digital signage systems. You’ve seen my work. I guarantee it. Stadiums. Arenas. Wendy’s. Nike stores in the malls. My designs went out to enterprise customers. I’d design it. They would buy them. My company would put them in every single store location nationwide.

I designed an enclosure to hold a 65” lcd display, a 1u rack mount computer, mini network switch, And some other gear. All was good until stadiums wanted to buy it and put them all over…open top stadiums. So now my design had to be upgraded to have beefed up cooling, a heating system, thermostat, and all the vents needed to be weatherproofed. It was all new to me but I figured it out and they are still in use today 10 years later

Bottom line. You sound resourceful and intillegent. A diy crafter. Build an enclosure or find a premade one. add weatherproof vents. Wire pass throughs with grommets / rubber foam seals. And you can easily build it. Heck with low wattage fans you can have the battery backup station power it’s own intake/exhaust fans

Funny you mention it, it was just considering what I would do if I(or others) "had to" switch battery types.. I think at a minimum a cabinet up high(6'), and away from the tank) would negate much of the concern of water. Kept within conditioned space, with active ventilation and fire suppressant foam bomb. Much like the metal cabinet im building for my batteries, but inside. Not sure foam will put it out though. I keep getting flashbacks of the fire department using the firetruck to ram a tesla(that caught fire after a "minor" accident) into a retention pond because they couldn't get the fire under control. The pond contained it but, boy did that water boil for like a hour

I’d probably get a wall mount av rack and call it a day

If it’s 6’ up and water gets in it you got other problems…

I was reading this thread...really good stuff here but... just a novice question...I'm in hurricane country FL.
So with the Seadevil 2000w power station..
Running a DC Mini Mighty Jet pump circulation (22watts) and a (100watt) heater set at 76 degrees where our home temp would possibly be mid 70s (avg heat/on/off) How long do you think it would continously provide power in hours ? Trying to see if it something that would provide enough power for a day or just hours ?

I don't plan on keeping mine plugged in unless on vacation but store it charged and whip it out when needed which historically has not been often.

If your house is mid 70's... I would not run a heater tbh and that would be a bigger drain than a powerhead.

The heater is just so unnecessary, I live in MN and house would have to be below 65 for me to consider a heater.

Now if there was a heat wave and loss of power and tank was pushing close to 87+, I would run a chiller if I didn't have a way to bring down the temp (bags of ice?). High temps will kill SPS and LPS.

Sure..I have both.. still the question modified how long would it run on just the mighty jet..
Would it be 2000 ÷ 22 = 90 hours ...the math sounds unrealistic ?

SeeDevil 2132

Mighty jet only - 82 hours

Mighty jet + 100w heater, assuming (falsely) that heater is on nonstop - 14.6 hours

Now we know that a heater isn’t on 100% or the time of the tank would be cooked. But this shows as an absolute worst case unrealistic scenario, it would be 14.6 hours

If the heater is on for one minute, off for one minute, in a continuous loop, then 28 hours appox. And even that’s not realistic

It’s hard to tell because I don’t know how much your heater will come on, but I think the 2132 wh would get you through a 24 hour period of no power

If you got a portable solar panel down the line you could fold out the kickstand and put it on the lawn and rub a wire to the station, and have pass through charging all day long. (Using battery to power devices while simultaneously recharging from solar)

I answered the question with some runtime estimates but I want to add in I agree with your post. I wouldn’t consider powering a heater unless the tank started dropping into the mid/high 60’s and even then I would set the heater to something like 72 so it runs less

As for the heat issue you could connect some low wattage fans and direct them at the tank surface

Solar panel would be out of the question...we're the application is a hurricane and storm, clouds and rain.
But to get 24 to 48 hours run time is a win win..if power goes out. Thanks Gents

You would put out the solar panel once the storm passes. If you have enough of them and enough battery, you can run indefinitely...

Theory behind panels is…
Let’s say hurricane. Terrible weather. Power lines down for the path of the storm. Multi state. We are looking at let’s say 5 days before power is restored.

The battery station gets you through the storm. And your home thankfully survived. But has no power

The station will run out of juice after x hours with no recharging. But if you had panels, then the next day, and every day after, you can have them in the driveway or yard and they will recharge the station all day long, as long as there’s sun.

This would extend the number of days you can rely on the station to power the reef, while you wait for linesmen to repair the power grid

I went ahead and bought the anker with the extra battery, very $$$$$ but pretty cheap if it lasts 10+ years.

I just use the battery backup to get through the night then drag the gas generator out the next day.

You got a good setup but maybe keep an eye on this after release date to see the cost and then do a comparison

@Reefering1
Just noticed this company. The titan series is built with steel casing and louvered vents…ip54 waterproof rating and can sustain the impact of a oak tree falling on it. Anxiety solved lol
