I had a little time to whip out the hood this afternoon.
I went with 16 gauge 5052 Aluminum so it's not a pain to install as it's getting wedged in that insert.

I took a video of of the part being cut just in case anyone wants to see how it's made.

The flat pattern before forming

And the formed and powder coated part.
I went with a textured black as it was set up in the gun at the time.

The AP700 bolt pattern to mount the lights as well as the fan hole.

And a little light!

I should have the hood mounted and the lights in place this evening.

Simply awesome work. Any worry of those AP700 units getting hot being flush up against the metal hood?

It's Aluminium it's pretty much a large heatsink.

The great thing about these lights is the Acrylic comes completely off. That allows me to sandwich the hood between the acrylic and the lights heatsink.

I did forget one thing the hole for the wires to pass through the hood.
I just hand drilled them and will be adding a grommet later.

One week down and everyone seems happy the hippo tang is having a blast!

The only thing I lost in the move is a 6 head frog spawn that got smashed during transport.

A little day time pic with the AP-700's these lights are awesome!

Other side of the Bridge, we're neighbors! What shops do you go to?
If you ever need help on a tank realted project Id be happy to help, especially TGAW Alloys are my specialty. Will help for fun and for free but will work for frags!;)
I don't go to the shops really unless I'm buying fish. Most of my Corals were frags picked up from local reefers on Craigslist. Vallejo Aquarium and all about fish and
Diablo Corals in Concord are really all that are close to me.

Some base line testing seeing how I added so much new water.
Ammonia just under 0.2ppm
Nitrate at 0ppm
Phosphate 0.02
Calcium 482
MAG dkh 8.4
Alk dkh 7.8
Salinitiy 31ppt

Alk and salinitiy are low so I'll be dosing Alk and topping off with sea water for the next few days to get everything in check then start the dosing pumps to maintain.

I got around to cutting the hole in the wall to run the romex extension cord.

Defiantly cleans it up with no wires hanging down.

And a finally got the doors on the stand. I still have some cleaning to do in there but all this room is awesome!

I built it just tell enough to fit my 20gal ATO container inside.

I wasn't sure where the reactors would end up so I used super strong 90lb pull magnets to place them pretty much anywhere in the stand.

The high noon light setting better on the eyes for pictures. It looks so empty doubling the display size!

I installed 2 Maxspect gyre pumps the single Ice cap was not enough flow.

I also picked up a varios-8 return pump man this thing flows! I have it on 3 and it's moving a lot of water.

A little update on the tank. Everything seems to be doing well. No crazy algae outbreak I had a light brown algae form for the first week after setting up the tank but it's nearly all gone from the display.

All the corals seem to be healthy even some of ones that were on the edge of death in the old tank seem to be bouncing back.

I'm continuing to test calcium and Alk every other day to see how much the tank is consuming. My calcium is pretty high hovering in the low 500's Alk is just below 8.0dkh. I've only been dosing Alk to keep it stable the calcium is slowing going down.

I picked up a @Bulk Reef Supply jumbo reactor as my standard one was not large enough for the new tank with GFO.

Those of you who haven't seen one in person it's a beast!

The neon green toadstool frags are doing awesome. The three head mothers dropped about 15 of these little guys they are all about 2" at the tops with about 3/4" stocks.
