I got this Bazooka Joe in November last year.
I had a while ago a few disasters from temp drop to 65 and Alk drop to 6 and my corals were not very happy.
Seems he recovered a bit and started growing again slowly.

I am not a Chalice expert at all and maybe you guys can tell me if he is looking good and if this is the way the Bazooka Joe is supposed to look?

Thanks for your input
Michael

it looks way better than mine! I moved about a year ago and since then my BJ stopped growing and faded in color. I've moved it around trying to make it happy with no success

It appears a little browned out to me but that should improve with time. I also find that it gets the brighter pink color with lower light. Here's a picture of mine for reference

It doesn't look too bad at all. Coloring up nicely. Agree with above poster that it likes lower light in my experience with it.

I had my bazooka completely brown out....in about 3 weeks time it has almost reached its full color potential. Very resilient coral.

It looks good to me Michael. I got mine from Zack and it's a super slow grower for me.
Did you get that from Meng? I think I remember you getting his ME when I got his jaydas and tyree pink, but thought someone else got the bazooka joe.

I have 2 bazooka joe chalices. The 1st one I picked up at Macna in Orlando in October... It is pink and green but the colors are not great.. it also seems a lot more bumpy than what I believe to be a real bazooka joe... and it has not grown at all since October..

bazookaJoe2.jpg

The second (left chalice) came originally from Sexy Corals.. It wasn't doing well in a friends tank and was completely dulled out so I bought it from him... I got it about 3 months ago and it was about half the size of what it is now... The color on it came back and glows neon pink and green. The skeletal structure seems to be very different than my first one and growth rate is much faster than the 1st one that I bought as a bazooka joe..

Your chalice looks nice.. the colors are good but the skeleton looks like my first one, a little more bumpy than what I think is the real bazooka joe. Just my opinion... Lots of people out there selling stuff that's really not what they say it is. Its a nice chalice either way.

low light? My bazooka joe(defnitely a real joe) loves the light more than any other chalice I own. I had to move it up on my frag rack cause it was stressing after I decreased the light to it.

Michael - I think your Bazooka Joe is looking alright. The rim and eyes look very heathly. Are you spot feeding it and is it eating?

the bazooka joe is a very finicky chalice. if you have a swing or nutrient spike it will show you its not happy. for me it takes many months to recover from these issues with b joe. i have multiple colonies from diff people and they are all this way. not my fav of the watermelons for this reason but it is a very nice pink when its happy

I find this odd but maybe I have just been lucky. My BJ has been one of the, if not the hardiest chalice I own. It's defnitely my hardiest watermelon for me anyway. It's the one WM chalice I own that has never given me problems where as I've had my others look fine one day and I wake up the next morning to RTN'ing chalice haha.

I have had four colonies from four diff people. Two died during a tank crash I had last october. Many other chalices were fine. The other two I still have but they are still hardly colored up. I've had them for 6-8 months each. They color up much slower compared to most of my other watermelons after they are stressed. I have over 10 other red/pink watermelon chalices.
