Ditto... just keep your calcium up and you will be surprised how fast it starts growing.

If you want to pay shipping I can send you some for free. I just scraped a bunch out of my sump this morning but there is still plenty more I can scrap out. I wanted it until I got it. Now I am constantly trying to keep it from covering my pumps and cloging

my wiers. I can put some in a flat rate envelope next week. This is just a random pic from my tank. As you can see my rock is 90% covered.
Hi, i see this post is from January. Are you still giving away coralline algae? Thank you!

I dosed ARCReef about 6 weeks ago, and starting to see purple coraline growing on the plastic parts in my tank, so hoping I will soon see it growing on my dry rock shortly. I do think the product works.

Buy a small piece of live rock from LFS to seed the tank and not just coraline but all the other goodies that come with it

I don't understand buying coralline in a bottle, it's basically them grinding up live rock and putting it in a bottle. If you're going to say you don't want hitchhikers, face it, you're going to get them even from the bottles
It's snake oil in a bottle, these are the kinds of things that makes retailers think you can just slap a sticker on something add the word "reef" or some other buzzword and charge 1000% more than it actually costs to manufacture.
Just get some live rock or snails or hermit crabs with coralline in them, or heck they'll come on frag plugs too.

Also, the fact that ARCreef has not responded to the post even though it's been nearly weeks since they were notified really says a lot about them. I know now where not to spend my money, lets just say that...

Rcpalmer1 I’d be interested in some scrapes if you want to sell some!

Scrapings are great! I did use purple helix on my current build and it has been CRAZY!! The stuff is not snake oil.

It is NOT an alk/calc booster. It is just coralline “spores” ...probably just ground up coralline... but who knows. It takes a while to show up, but when it does it is everywhere!! My rocks are pretty much being evenly coated... clearly a blend of species which is nice as different lighting and chemistry’s will grow diff species better than others.

It was worth every penny and has been much faster than waiting for it to color up on its own.

Purple Helix —or find someone who has a bunch of it and grind it up into the tank. Also red banded trocus snails and black footed trocus snails are known for their coralline covered shells. If you are going to add snails anyway you might as well use them. Not to mention they are great cleaners and live crazy long in the aquarium (and spawn -free eggs/sperm/food for the tank).

In all fairness they did also have a tiny price of rock in that bottle. I added it to my tank... and pulled it a few days later because it had either colonial hydoids or vermatids... I don’t remember which... but that I was not thrilled with. As I had built my tank to avoid the addition of things like that and was surprised to find it in the product.

Ya honestly I’ve tried a couple when I first set up my reefer 450 and they turned out to be snake oil for me, added a couple snails with coralline on the shells and it’s exploded since

This is a great idea. I never thought of that! Thanks. :)

Do you still have some to ship? I’d gladly pay for some purple. Let me know.
