Don’t usually post stuff like this but curious to see what’s out there.
What is the best customization you have ever made to your tank?
To start… I am absolute fan of external components. I think the look of all clean lines piping adds an aesthetic that give the tank that industrial oil refinery look which certainly start to look more impressive the more components added. What obviously deters a lot of people when it comes to external components is the constant fear of leaks and damage that can happen. When I had my tank custom made it originally just came with a standard painted plywood base at the bottom of the steel stand. Knowing that I planned to go with a lot external parts i went the extra step and made a custom catch pan for the whole stand by glueing together sheets of 3/4 mdf board and then finding a cnc shop to then mill it down to the exact specs of the stand. It was also milled down in a way that created a raised wall around the entire perimeter. Afterward I completely waterproof sealed it and had the whole thing finished with truck bed liner paint. Once back under the stand I drilled several bulkheads into it that feed through my floor down to a sump in my crawlspace. Fortunately I have not had a leak that large where the level rose enough to spill over the bulk head. However this catch pan has already saved me on at least 4 small scale leak of at least 2-4 gallon and why I easily consider this the best modification toward my tank.
