can anyone recommend a good reliable dosing pump that I only need for AFR? I never used one before so your help is appreciated. Just want to keep my amounts exact and things more automated. Also, any required accessories for this?

I use a kamoer x1 pro. Just calibrate, set up the app, and thats it. It's been accurate and tells me when the AFR is low. You can get one for like $60 on aliexpress.
it’s pretty easy to deliver let’s say about 15mL’s daily throughout the day to maintain a steady KH? I also need to get some tubing and a storage container.

I mixed 3 liters AFR.
Container from Dollar Store: Tall with lid
Air Pump line from said store
and used Jecod DP4 for dosing.......($40 from fellow hobbyist)

Following! I'm in the same boat. I want to dose AFR, ammonium bicarbonate, and trisodium phosphate daily and don't want to break the bank!

how often do these things fail and dump 3 liters of afr into your tank? does this happen to people? I’ll watch a youtube video to figure out how to program one. i know it’s not rocket science.

I have the kamoer f1 and its running about a month no issues.

no issues so far.......at least for me.....

i have been using some of the same dosing pumps since 2013 or earlier and every couple years i replace a head, but i have never had any dosing pump overdose a tank. Keep the dosing container lower than tank so if anything when the head gets old it loses suction and you replace tube or head.

Do to how afr works with bacteria converting it to alk you don’t need to worry about slow dosing it over the day. The pumps can, but there isn’t a need to do it that way vs normal 2 part.

yep. I dose 30ml in 2 15ml doses for 6 months no issues. Before that the same setup dosed 20ml in 2 doses for 2 years. No problems.

Aqua Vitro Sentia dose. Get one primary, but if you decide to add something else to dose, pick up a secondary doser. You can add a lot of secondary dosers. The app is rock solid. I use them on all of my tanks.

Zero times in 7 years. For peace of mind, add a $3 airline check valve.

I used kamoer f1 and X1 pumps for two part and they were fine. I use one head of a redsea two channel doser for my AFR because I like the app better and I had the doser. As mentioned AFR is fine dosed manually in most tanks. I manually dosed it for close to a year. I only put it on a doser because sometimes I was forgetting to add it manually.

haha this is precisely the reason why i was thinking of dosing it. I'll just forget.

I use the Hydros Minnow. It has 2 pumps. I use one for AFR and will begin some sort of carbon dosing with the other. The price is higher than the other options mentioned ($250) but it has a complete controller system included that would allow you to control other add ons. So far I am very happy with it.

The BRS 1.1 ml per minute would be a good pump at the low price end, but most any peristaltic pump that is not too fast will work.

BRS dosing pump or even better the BRS Drews dosing pump. Put it on a solid timer and you’re set. No need for an app or anything crazy. They all tend to suck at some point IME or have downsides few ever talk about.

Is there a mechanical timer that let's you get down into the minutes for on and off? When i was looking i could only find 15 minute intervals. So you are stuck dosing in 15ish ml intervals. Does everyone trust digital timers in this case?
