Best glass scraper thoughts?

Question folks: I've scratched near the sand surface, I dont know why.
I clean everything except bottom 1" near sand.
Any tips?

Does having only plastic help? I have metal blades on both ends (DIY)

I think if you slide the blade sideways you can scratch, both metal and ceramic are harder than the glass so scratches are possible.

Near the sand it's always possible to get a grain of sand between the blade and the glass which will again possibly scratch. It's Betsy best to approach the sand perpendicular and pull away perpendicular.

That's why the old mag floats or any of the scrubber style glass cleaners are dangerous imo. They are much easier to get some sand in them.

I have never scratched the glass but maybe possible. Mine makes an audible screech so I just change the angle as it starts to go too vertical. I maybe missing what you mean by plastic. Do you have an Acrylic Tank ? Mine are all glass

Ive had one in my tank for 2 years and have never put the metal blades on. Once a week or every two I go in with a razor and scrape all the calcium deposits off the glass. My tank grows green coraline on the glass like weeds.
